Search for the best yacht brokerage in Perth and you will find no shortage of businesses happy to accept the title. None of them can prove it. There is no governing body that ranks brokerages, no independent league table, and any firm waving a trophy is telling you more about its marketing than its moorings. What a buyer can do is set clear criteria and test each business against them. Below are the five tests we think matter most — brand appointments, service capability, facility access, transparency and after-sale support — and how Motoryachts Australasia measures against each one, in specifics rather than slogans.
How to judge the best yacht brokerage in Perth
A brokerage is easy to start and hard to run well. The barrier to entry is a phone, a website and a berth to borrow; the barrier to competence is people, facilities and the confidence of manufacturers. That gap is why judging criteria matter more than the adjectives on a homepage.
We suggest five:
- Brand appointments — which manufacturers have examined the business and put their name behind it.
- Service capability — qualified technicians and factory authorisation, not a subcontractor’s phone number.
- Facility access — lifting, hardstand and pens on a scale that suits the vessels being sold.
- Transparency — published listings, visible pricing and straightforward viewings.
- After-sale support — a plan for year two of ownership, not just settlement day.
Any brokerage comfortable with those tests should welcome them. Here is how we answer each one.
Brand appointments: whose name stands behind the business
Manufacturers do not hand out dealerships casually. Before appointing a dealer, a shipyard examines the business’s premises, technical staff and standing in the market, because every hull it ships will carry the yard’s reputation. Dealer status is the closest thing this industry has to independent due diligence, carried out by parties with real money at stake.
Motoryachts Australasia holds four appointments across four distinct categories. We are the official Western Australian dealer for Sunseeker, the British builder from Poole whose range spans roughly 55 to 134 feet across about 19 models at the time of writing, headlined locally by the 90 Ocean. We hold the same appointment for Saxdor, the Finnish-designed, Polish-built marque founded by Sakari Mattila, who previously founded Axopar and XO Boats; at the time of writing the Saxdor range runs from about 20 to 46 feet across roughly 11 models in the 200, 270, 320, 340, 400 and 460 series.
On 24 July 2026 came a third. Sealegs, the amphibious builder from Auckland, appointed MYA as its Western Australian dealer alongside LegASea on the Gold Coast covering the rest of the country — the first time Australia has had full Sealegs dealer coverage. The fourth is Mercury Marine, where we are an authorised dealer with Mercury-specialist technicians and factory authorisation for service, maintenance and warranty work.
Those appointments sit within a wider structure. MYA is a member of the DCH Marine network, and Sunseeker’s global dealer locator lists the Perth operation as DCH Marine Perth. The team behind it carries more than 80 years of combined marine experience — our about page covers the background of the business, founded in 2021 and based at the North Fremantle marina.
Service capability and after-sale support
The transaction takes an afternoon; ownership lasts years. A brokerage that sells a vessel and then points you elsewhere for maintenance has done half the job, and the half it skipped is the half you will live with. Two of the five criteria — service capability and after-sale support — are really the same question asked at different times: who looks after the boat, and for how long.
MYA’s after-sales department handles mechanical and electrical work, engine servicing, plumbing, antifouling, and interior and exterior detailing to concours standard. Warranty repairs are carried out to factory standard with genuine parts under our Mercury factory authorisation, and owners have access to a 24/7 technical support line for the problems that refuse to wait for business hours. Rather than a generic schedule, maintenance runs through tailored programmes built around each vessel and the way its owner actually uses it.
That structure reflects the line the business works to: we don’t simply sell yachts, we deliver a lifetime on the water. We have written in more detail about how the sales and service sides reinforce each other in our guide to Perth yacht brokerage and servicing; the short version is that a broker who expects to maintain a vessel after the sale has every incentive to represent it honestly during the sale. The full workshop scope is on our service page.
Facility access: what the Rous Head connection means
Perth has plenty of places to moor a boat and far fewer places to lift a big one. Facility access is the criterion buyers most often overlook, and the hardest one to fake.
MYA’s office is attached to SFM Marina in the Rous Head Harbour precinct at North Fremantle, which means the lifts, sheds, hardstands and pens are connected directly to the office rather than a drive away. The SFM Marine recreational facility runs two lifters rated to 200 tonnes, accepts vessels up to 10 metres of beam, and handles everything from 14-foot trailer boats to 90-foot cruisers, including catamarans and tri-hulls. It employs qualified mechanics, electricians, shipwrights and engineers, runs a closed-loop water treatment plant, and operates from 7am to 4pm daily. SFM also runs a facility at the Australian Marine Complex in Henderson for work at the heavier end.
For a buyer, the practical consequences are concrete. A pre-purchase survey that needs the vessel out of the water can be arranged where the vessel already sits. Antifouling before handover, a shaft or drive inspection, an insurance lift — all of it happens within the precinct rather than across town, on equipment sized for genuinely large motoryachts.
Transparency: a list you can check for yourself
Transparency in brokerage means published prices and open doors. At the time of writing, our brokerage list runs to around 30 vessels priced from roughly A$7,000 to A$995,000. At the top sits a Sunseeker Manhattan 60 MKII at about A$995,000; the middle of the list includes a Protector 12.5M XL near A$500,000, a Bavaria Sport 330 HT around A$299,000 and a Sea Ray 335 Sundancer near A$109,000; at the accessible end, a Whittley CR 2080 SD is listed around A$78,900.
That spread matters. A list running from trailer boats to a near-million-dollar Sunseeker shows a brokerage working the whole market rather than skimming headline stock, and it means the firm handles transactions across enough categories to price realistically. The same openness applies to new stock: at the time of writing, Saxdor pricing starts at about A$119,990 for the 205, with the 270 GTO near A$269,000 and the 320 GTO and GTC at roughly A$529,000 and A$549,000. Details are on our new yachts page. Prices move with the market, of course — treat every figure here as accurate at the time of writing and confirm current pricing before you plan around it.
If you are weighing a used purchase, our guide to buying pre-owned yachts in Perth walks through inspection, survey and settlement in detail. And because paper only goes so far, viewings run seven days a week by appointment — judging a vessel, like judging a brokerage, is best done in person.
Put the criteria to the test
Take the five tests in this article and apply them to any brokerage you are considering, including this one. Ask who has appointed them, who does their servicing, where their vessels get lifted, what their list looks like and what happens after settlement. The answers separate a sales office from a marine business.
Then come and see ours in person. Motoryachts Australasia operates from the North Fremantle marina in the Rous Head Harbour precinct, viewings run seven days by appointment, and the team is on +61 499 770 180. You can also reach us through the contact page to arrange a walk-through of anything on the list.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I choose the best yacht brokerage in Perth?
Judge on evidence rather than slogans: which manufacturers have appointed the business as a dealer, whether it runs its own service department, what lifting and hardstand facilities it can access, how openly it publishes listings and prices, and what support it offers after settlement. A brokerage confident in its answers will welcome the questions, and will happily show you around in person.
Which brands does Motoryachts Australasia represent?
At the time of writing, MYA is the official Western Australian dealer for Sunseeker (roughly 55 to 134 feet) and Saxdor (roughly 20 to 46 feet), the appointed WA dealer for Sealegs amphibious boats, announced in July 2026, and a Mercury servicing specialist with Mercury-specialist technicians on staff.
Does MYA service boats as well as sell them?
Yes. The after-sales department covers mechanical and electrical work, engine servicing, plumbing, antifouling and detailing to concours standard, with warranty repairs on the boats and Mercury engines we supply completed to factory standard using genuine parts. Owners can join tailored maintenance programmes and have access to a 24/7 technical support line.
Can large yachts be lifted and surveyed at MYA's North Fremantle base?
MYA's office is attached to SFM Marina in the Rous Head Harbour precinct. The recreational facility there runs two lifters rated to 200 tonnes, accepts vessels up to 10 metres of beam, and handles everything from 14-foot trailer boats to 90-foot cruisers, including catamarans and tri-hulls. It operates 7am to 4pm daily, so pre-purchase lifts and surveys can be arranged where vessels already sit.
What pre-owned boats does MYA currently have listed?
